Democrats offered to end the shutdown if the GOP would agree (they didn’t) to only a one-year extension of ACA premium subsidies. This is not enough. Please urge U.S. Senators Andy Kim (202-224-4744) and Cory Booker (202-224-3224) to vote NO to end the shutdown unless Democrats have secured very significant concessions from the Republicans on the following: 1) Permanent restoration and extension of the ACA premium subsidies, 2) Restoration of a major portion of the funding cut from SNAP and Medicaid in the Big Ugly Bill. You can call anytime and, if the office isn’t open, leave a phone message.

As the Republican government shutdown continues, the USDA has warned that SNAP – Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – benefits will end. In Bucks and Hunterdon Counties, tens of thousands of residents rely on SNAP. What can we do to help right now? Donate to your local food bank or food pantry! Click here for NJ and here for PA food pantry lists. Another option is to donate $ to a food bank (i.e. Norwescap). Food banks are able to purchase in bulk at wholesale prices, saving money, and then distribute the food to food pantries. THANK YOU for your help!
